This Raw chaga mushroom grows for 10-20 years on birch trees into a hard, woody mass. Chaga also grows on maple or ash trees, but the best comes straight from the birch trees of Siberia. It is thought the dark appearance of this apoptogenic fungus is derived from melanin absorbed from its host birch trees.

Doctors, alternative medicine advocates, and researchers are increasingly interested in the potential health benefits of the chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus). Some studies on chaga mushrooms have yielded promising results.

Melanin: Its role as a molecule with special properties and functions affecting general health, including photoprotective and immunological action, is well recognized. Its antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, immunomodulatory, radioprotective, hepatic, gastrointestinal, and hypoglycemic benefits have only recently been recognized and studied.

Chaga is known for many of its health benefits:

Starting your day with Chaga brew, you will experience an energizing lift and an increase in stamina. Chaga tea supports good digestion and improves the body’s ability to detoxify. It also strengthens the immune system to help you cope with stress, and is a powerful antioxidant.

Nutrient-dense superfood:

Chaga mushrooms are rich in a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, including:

  • B-complex vitamins
  • vitamin D
  • potassium
  • rubidium
  • cesium
  • amino acids
  • fiber
  • copper
  • selenium
  • zinc
  • iron
  • manganese
  • magnesium
  • calcium

Slowing the aging process:

Physical signs of aging, such as wrinkles, sagging skin, and grey hair, are caused by oxidative stress. Excessive sun exposure, pollution, and other sources of damage generate too many free radicals for the body to neutralize, hastening the aging process of the skin.

In theory, increasing antioxidant levels in the body could slow or even reverse visible signs of aging.

Lowering cholesterol:

Chaga mushrooms are high in antioxidants, which may help lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad" cholesterol.

Because high cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease, Chaga mushrooms may be beneficial in the fight against cardiovascular disease.

Preventing and fighting cancer:

Researchers are increasingly interested in the possibility that chaga mushrooms may be able to prevent or slow the progression of cancer.

Chaga contains a high concentration of antioxidants, which are chemicals that aid in the prevention of cell damage caused by free radicals or oxidants. Oxidative stress occurs when the body is unable to produce enough antioxidants to prevent this damage. Cancer and a variety of other health issues can be caused by oxidative stress.

In a 2010 study, Chaga was found to inhibit the growth of lung, breast, and cervical cancer cells in a petri dish. The same study discovered that Chaga could slow tumor growth in mice.

According to a 2009 study According to Trusted Source, triterpenes, which are found in Chaga and other mushrooms, cause tumor cells to self-destruct. However, unlike other cancer treatments, Chaga does not appear to harm healthy cells.

 Lowering blood pressure:

According to research, oxidative stress may be a factor in high blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are more likely to suffer from heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular problems.

The antioxidants in Chaga may play a role in lowering blood pressure and preventing cardiovascular disease.

Supporting the immune system:

Cytokines are the chemical messengers of the immune system. They are proteins that play an important role in the stimulation of white blood cells, which serve as the immune system's first line of defense against a variety of illnesses.

a little research

According to a study on mice, Chaga may help regulate the production of cytokines, thereby supporting the immune system by allowing cells to communicate with one another. This could aid in the fight against infections ranging from minor colds to life-threatening illnesses.

Fighting inflammation:

When the body is fighting an infection, inflammation aids in the fight. However, inflammation can progress from a short-term attack to a long-term health issue.

Inflammation is linked to some illnesses, particularly chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. According to recent research trusted Source, some conditions that are not considered inflammatory, such as depression, may be caused in part by chronic inflammation.

Chaga's role in regulating cytokine production may also aid in inflammation control. This suggests that Chaga may play a role in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and possibly other diseases.

Lowering blood sugar:

Chaga may also play a role in the treatment of diabetes.

Chaga mushrooms were found to lower blood sugar levels in rats in a 2006 study. Diabetes and obesity were genetically engineered into rodents. Their blood sugar levels were lower after 8 weeks of eating Chaga mushrooms.

Despite the fact that no human studies have been conducted, this suggests that Chaga may one day contribute to alternative diabetes treatment.

Preventing drug side effects:

Although research is still in its early stages, if Chaga is found to be effective in fighting diseases such as cancer and arthritis, it could provide an alternative to traditional treatments.

People who are treated with Chaga mushrooms may avoid the side effects of other treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and various medications prescribed for chronic illnesses.

Use 3-4 chunks each time and simmer in 750ml of water. This should provide approximately 3 cups of Chaga brew.

The chunks need to be steeped for at least 20 mins in simmering water. Wait until the tea becomes dark reddish-brown before consuming. If you want to extract all of the benefits, simmer over low heat for up to 4 hours. You can store leftover Chaga tea in the refrigerator for 3 days. The Chaga cubes can be reused twice more after the initial extraction.
